5/2/2017 1 Comment Donations PLEASEI am collecting Linen 4 Wildlife ALL YEAR ROUND. At the moment my stocks are running a little low. I NEED- Towels Blankets (that would be good for outer wildlife pouches- baby blankets, fleece blankets etc) FLAT sheets (flannel ones would be AWESOME!) Pillow cases These are the main things that I collect. If you have any of these- please drop them off to either location
Yesterday mum showed me these messages that she got. One is from one of my kinder teachers. I am in grade 6 this year. It is nice that my teachers still remember me and that they follow my journey on facebook.
My teachers want me to come and do a koala talk to their kinder kids. They will be so cute to talk to but I wonder if they will listen lol. It will be fun to talk to little kids about my love- koalas and wildlife. Mum got an email from a lady that wants the children of her before/after school care group to help me. They want to get donations for my fundraising, make pouches and maybe get some blankets and towels for my linen drives. They want me to come in maybe once a term and share with the kids what I have been doing- I can take in photos and anything else I get from donating things to groups. This will be fun. I hope I can inspire more kids to do what I do- imagine if there were a lot of us kids raising awareness for koalas and wildlife? It would be pretty awesome. Yesterday mum also got permission for me to talk at my school assembly ON Wednesday which is Wild Koala Day! I am a bit nervous as our school is big- I mean really big! More than 800 kids plus teachers and parents that come to assembly. It will be pretty good to talk to my peers about what I do and what we can all do for koalas and wildlife and even better to talk to this many people ON Wild Koala Day about koalas. I am excited but nervous about this. I hope I get my message out properly. Cyclone Debbie hit Queensland in April 2017. Unfortunately with the floods from this, Currumbin Sanctuary's Hinze Dam eucalyptus plantation were devastatingly impacted on and it put their current supply at risk. This supply is crucial to their wildlife hospital which treats around 300 sick and injured wild koalas annually. Did you know it takes 1000 trees to feed just one of their beautiful koalas every year!
Since I had raised money we decided now was the time to make our donation. We donated $180 which planted 20 koala trees. To find out more or help them by making a donation to their 'TREE TO ME' program, please click the link:http://cwhf.org.au/get-involved/tree-to-me Thank you EVERYONE that has donated to my cause and made this happen. |
